WRINKLE FREE

Love this idea of creating a succulent or plant display on a vintage ironing board, thanks Remodelista.

ZIO & SONS

One of my favorite people (who happens to be my dear cousin) Zio & Sons, is having his debut showcase of furniture and decorative accessories this Thursday May, 17th. He has a great eye and wonderful vintage aesthetic so if you're in NYC stop by his showcase at 264 Bowery Street. Enjoy!

CURRENT CRAVING

This vintage bookshelf wallcovering from Young & Battaglia is at the top of my splurge list. I mean look at it! I'm dying to cover my office in it, or maybe just an accent wall—it must go somewhere.

I'M A WANDERER

The recently opened NoMad Hotel in NYC is sure to give the ever hip Ace Hotel a run for it's money. I have been a long time fan of French architect/interior designer Jacques Garcia and happy to see his beautiful aesthetic put to work in this medium. Inspired by his own Parisian apartment the rooms feature salon style art, claw foot bathtubs and an antiqued look of a "great house" that sure to beckon the lovely and lusty. See you there!

FILM ME UP

I've just arrived at the amazing Biltmore Hotel for the Design Bloggers Conference, which should be an interesting few days. Hoping to sneak out to take some pics of beautiful downtown LA with film to break up hours of staring at a computer screen. Now which baby to use!

AGING GRACEFULLY

Today I was about 30 minutes north of San Francisco, in Petaluma, sourcing some vintage and antique goods for The Shop and I met the sweetest older woman. She had a great tabletop collection that she was willing to part with, lucky for me, but also rocked some bad ass turquoise rings. A great reminder that like with beautifully crafted goods, beautiful souls also get better with time.

GENERAL STORE

I'm completely in love with the General Store in San Francisco. Located right off the N Judah out to Ocean Beach, this perfect little store is a well curated collaboration between the two owners of new and vintage home decor, jewelry, books, jewelry, rugs and apparel. Expect to find one of my favorite books, Handcrafted Modern on the bookshelf, vintage Hudson Bay blankets, local crafted jewelry, reformed Levi's jackets and a super cute greenhouse in the back.

VINTAGE VANDALLS

A new vintage furniture/rarities/bookstore opened up in San Francisco's Mission district recently and it's a strange brew of wonderful and odd that will make you feel like you walked into a gypsie's den—in a good way. Went we went into Viracocha this weekend, where the shopkeepers looked as if they could have been an extra set of hands at an old timey circus; one was playing piano while another dusted old typewriters with over-sized feathers. Check it out for yourself babes.

GET HANDSOME

One of the best pop-up's that I've been to is the Pop Up Flea in NYC that happens once a year, focusing on new and vintage menswear. So many inspiring vendors, products, leather goods, fabrics, accessories, raw denim, mustaches, cuffed pants, happy socks, ahhhh! For some serious man stalking and shopping be there December 2-4 at 159 Bleecker.

BLACK PYRAMIC POP-UP / SF

This Friday November 4th, head to Piper's Shoe Parlor at 162 Haight Street for some serious vintage duds. The uber vintage retailer Black Pyramid will be popping up and cleaning out your wallet from 6-10 pm. You know you need some chunky knits, jumpsuits and Cobain inspired goods this fall, c'monnnnn.

ON DISPLAY

I love this vintage display rack that London based designer Eva Karayiannis keeps her son's shoes in. The beauty owns and designs clothing, interiors, etc...for her kiddie label Caramel Baby & Child. The current NYT have some great pics of her at home.

Reformation

There are times when a new outfit or accessory irrationally seals an anticipating crush or distracts a broken heart. For those moments and the others that come between I've found a special spot that both coasts have access to. Reformation, named for the reforming of vintage fabrics, finds and goods to stylize the modern Courtney Love to Audrey Hepburn in all of us. Beautiful tailoring, unique patterns and cuts with a bit of a deconstructed edge.

Here are a few shots I took at the LA shop at 142 N. La Brea Ave (the Manhattan shop in is the LES on Ludlow between Rivington and Stanton):

Teddy Boy

Cruising down Allen St in the LES, The Shop came across a fairly new menswear boutique that has got us all hot and bothered. Teddy Boy, a British term from the 1950's for a tough youth wearing a modified style of Edwardian clothes, has a well edited, styled and handsome store at 164 Allen. Exposed wood floors and beams mixed with vintage furniture, projectors, cameras and sunglasses all set the tone for the beautifully tailored menswear that is all part of the Teddy Boy line. Satin shorts, slim suits, salvaged boots, clean button downs and a great vintage tie collection.
