BURY ME IN DENIM

Obsessed is an understatement for the way we feel about denim, indigo and all the raw, worn and ungodly things between. Therefore you will understand why we're emptying the bank account to clear out Scotch & Soda's Amsterdam Blauw collection, shown here. It's our perfect androgynous mix to fit in any shared closet but only the right girl can pull if off with sex appeal.

I DYE

For a design project I'm working on I wanted to bleach dye some denim this weekend and although I may have inhaled a bit too much bleach, I'm loving the results!

I started by testing out a sample of the denim and folding in an accordian like mannor to get the pattern going across the denim, opposed to a hippie dippie spiral.

6 yards of denim, 4 gallons of bleach and about an 45 minutes later I had a bathtub full of tie-dyed denim! I fear every piece of denim hanging in my closet might meet the same fate very soon.

WE FOUND LOVE

Rihanna's stylist killed in her new video We Found Love. I love all her looks, especially this little number straight off Jeremy Scott's runway. The song is super good too!

NEW SCHOOL

The image above is from the original Claremont Orange packing house, found on Levi's Vintage Clothing site. It's always interesting when you see style come full circle—the mustaches, wide brim hats,  raw denim jeans and pendant lights can be found in any "hipster" bar around the country right now.

Picked up this amazing denim backpack at In God We Trust's backyard bazaar in Brooklyn this weekend. It's the perfect size to carry your necessities but doesn't overpower an outfit or look too sporty.

HOTTER THAN HANSEL

Which came first, the chicken or the egg ? Who inspires whom, fashion or design ? In this little Shop girl's day job, I write about and produce stories for an interior design mag and I must say most my inspiration for stories comes from the front lines of fashion - whether it high brow or street, it all gets me going.
So because denim is invading the closet of just about everyone I know, I've pitched a story on denim in home decor. While I'm having a bit of a hard time sourcing it, here is a sneak peek of some samples I've pulled (above) and the inspiration that got me there.

Pour Some Layers On Me

While menswear trapses down the runways this week, we thought we'd show you what the street scene outside the shows is all about. Layers in all diferent textures and sizes seems to be captivating the very sexy men of Milan. We're especially into the layering with denim...something very rugged yet refined about it.
