Inspiration

We have recently come across h(y)r collective, an online magazine, slanted toward a male sensibility that has become a new inspiration. The layout, design and imagery are clean and minimal in a very well thought out way. The content ranging from music, fashion, politics and a daily blog are quirky, well-informed and extremely on point. Check it out...

We just had to sorry...seriously though, WHAT IS THIS ??? I bet JT wished this picture would have never re-surfaced. The denim fedora really tops it off!

Don't Call It A Comeback

The headline really has nothing to do with the post, mostly the beginnings of a post coffee buzz rambling, reminiscing on scarves, headbands, socks under heels, soap on a rope, fig tarts and push up bra's...what ? Poignant Hemingway esque sentences have never been our thing...what is our thing...ting ting's ?...no. Double Dutch?...maybe. Indie Mart?...Yes, Please !
We're going to the SF Indie Mart this weekend, before we hit up Zeitgeist to wish one of our oldest friends adieu, before she heads to Syracuse. Indie Mart Street Fair, get some feathers and put them in your hair.

Little Shop of Wonders

In all its diversified glory, Lower Haight is one of our favorite hoods of San Francisco. The DJ's at Noc Noc are always bumping good indie rock, Upper Playground keeps in trill, RNM has provided some memorable meals and now CC Rider SF is The Shop's go to shopping spot. Having recently opened at 260 Divisadero, CC Rider SF carries a melange of goods: rad old Casio watches, WESC high waisted shorts, vintage YSL, Levi's, rock tee's, eye wear, leather jackets, Keds, LA Gear, Cheap Monday skinny jeans, bags and belts - OH MY!!
Owner Lien Gray has a superb eye and is completely genuine and adorable to match !
Check out their blog or stop by the store. Upon our first visit we couldn't help but leave with a bag full of goodies ( gold sailboat broach, acid wash fanny pack, Vintage Chuck Taylor sweatshirt, calculator Casio watch...you get the picture).

Doin' To Much

Cosby is slanging these simple tee's with graphics such as kittens and sharks, which is an idea the Shop boys have been sporting for while (except we happen to be more fond of the unicorn and wolves).

The thing we aren't too into is the fact that one, they smatter their huge logo across the bottom of the tee and two, just go down to WalMart or your local cheesy touristy shop (here in SF there are a bunch in Fisherman's Warf and a good one in North Beach called Brahma Sportswear) and you can find tons of these there.

Funny Man

Creative Director for Billabong, Claudio Kirac, has some funny videos on You Tube. Speedos, mustaches, hot girls, neon colors and some surfing...summa is here!

Woodgrain

It's evident that here at The Cabinet Shop, we have an affinity for woods natural grains. Seems these days showing raw woodgrain is the design ticket in many industries. Above is the Bean Rocker from San Francisco Designers: Knoend. Using FFC certified maple wood and organic cotton, they are keepin' things green. We have also seen the Nike SB Woodgrain pack (below): And the Tony Alva pack from Van's...We're sure there is much more of this to come.

Crack Raider Razor Raider Razor....Sharp

Raider colors, A's logo, metallic silver elephant and brim...so dope! There are only 30 of these puppies in stock from Rock n Jocks, so get em while they're hot...white hot.

Live Fast Die Young

Gucci's Spring 09 runway looks were accompanied by the music of MGMT. Oh hipster bands on big buck runways are so hot Hansel !

The Men of Milan

The Men's Spring '09 looks are traipsing down the runways of Milan and so here is The Cabinet Shop's highlight reel of whats cookin' in our homeland:
Cavalli's modern day Romeo...a higher-waisted belt is making quite an appearance in a few of the lines. (Above)Dolce & Gabbana want you to wear your pajama's as outerwear. The drawstring, the fabric...the sexiness...(Above)

Costume National stays true to their signature look and light color pallet...appears as if the skinny tie is here to stay. An interesting note here is that they are using sustainable material such as silk bamboo and recycled aluminum to give the fabric that metallic sheen.

A Cabinet Shop member is on a skate trip to Seattle and so far we have learned two things, you can sleep in WalMart parking lots with ease and a little vintage shop in Portland called Keep' Em Flying has some great vintage brief cases and suits. If you don't know, now you know...

More Quilted Detailing...

The WTAPS x Vans collaboration brings more quilted detailing to men's footwear. Recently a Cabinet member found a WESC quilted patterned, puffy jacket at Jeremy's for about half the original price, the Ed Lover dance ensued...
We are enjoying the quilted trend and thinking there's about to be alot more of it for the fall...

Heart to Heart

One of our favorite boutiques in NYC - I Heart - has just started a blog, selling their wares (United Bamboo, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel etc...) accessories and special compilations that fly out of the store. Whenever we are in Nolita we make sure to stop by the shop, so we are pumped that one of our tigers has joined us on the web.

Hobo Chic

Here at The Shop we have had discussions regarding the lack of good looking men's accessories. Today however, the discussion has changed and quite appropriately with a line called That Hobo (these boys be smellin' funky sometimes!) The Japanese brand carries some beautiful bags, belts, camera cases, bracelets a bit of apparel. Enjoy...
