GENERAL STORE

I'm completely in love with the General Store in San Francisco. Located right off the N Judah out to Ocean Beach, this perfect little store is a well curated collaboration between the two owners of new and vintage home decor, jewelry, books, jewelry, rugs and apparel. Expect to find one of my favorite books, Handcrafted Modern on the bookshelf, vintage Hudson Bay blankets, local crafted jewelry, reformed Levi's jackets and a super cute greenhouse in the back.

"Black Light" by Kehinde Wiley

The images from new book by Photographer, Kehinde Wiley, "Black Light" have recently caught our eye. The painterly poses and baroque graphic motifs, set against the personification of modern masculine street wear seems interesting.

Here's what Publishers, powerHouse, have to say about it: " In Black Light, his first monograph, Wiley’s larger-than-life figures disturb and interrupt tropes of portrait painting, often blurring the boundaries between traditional and contemporary modes of representation and the critical portrayal of masculinity and physicality as it pertains to the view of black and brown young men. The models are dressed in their everyday clothing, most of which is based on far-reaching Western ideals of style, and are asked to assume poses found in paintings or sculptures representative of the history of their surroundings.
