He Gave Me the Business

Koji Sueyoshi might have designed the coolest business cards we have seen in a while. He runs the site Mixtape Generation and these cassette tape cards couldn't be more perfect. Ahh mixtapes, I miss those days of crushing on someone and expressing it in an all consuming stop, rewind, record well thought out compilation.

Scratch That Itch

While I plunder through everyday life, a small remedy comes in plucking jems from crates and scurrying home to hear that precious sound that has been bruised by mp3's. This weekend in New Jersey of all places, I found a precocious antique store where I procured some great records: Janet's first two albums, Disco compilation, Roberta Flack (come on, Killing Me Softly original ?!) and Led Zeppelin with a homemade cover.

Beautiful Mess

We'd like to say Happy Birthday today to fellow Virgo, Fiona Apple. Caught her with Jon Brion in Los Angeles a few months ago for an amazing show. Continually amazed by her lyricism and she always seems to find a way into my headphones when I'm looking for a strand to climb. Plus, how can you not love her "Not About Love" video with Zach Galafanakis !
