El Cool

Check out LA's El Ten Eleven doing a cover of Joy Division...double neck guitar/bass, check, bad ass drummer, check, two men covering a 4 piece band, check (well shit, almost) !

OneZeroTwo

A dear friend and special Tiger in our life has a beautiful blog that covers her and a friend's forays into making Momofuku soba noodles, French films, Brooklyn happenings, great book reviews and all around a romantically feminine and culturally sound point of view. Do yourself a favor and check out onezerotwo.

Chop Suey

Listen Pete Rock will go down as one of the greatest producers, at least Mr. Chop and I agree on that. That's why he has done a cover album of sorts of Pete Rock's greatest jams, called For Pete's Sake. The album takes you on a bit of a psychedelic ride with heavy jazz and funk influences. A proficient producer in his own right and nasty on many different instruments this album allows you to hear many of Pete Rocks beats in a whole new light. You can listen to the album courtesy of Turntable Lab.

Light It Up

It's all about lighting, here at The Shop. All our overhead lights have dimmers and we prefer an unholy glow in the room, to just about anything else. To prepare for this dormant winter season (yeah right) I've decided that a little mood lighting is just what I need in the bedroom.
Here is one of my favorites, the Solo pendant, from Re-Surface (outta Brooklyn). The microphone shaped pendant comes in a woodgrain or white/black lacquer finish and adds that purrrfect gleam to a room...wink wink.

In my bedroom, I've hung with an antique hook, found at some flea mart and just nailed straight into the grout.

Check one two, one two...
